Sclerotherapy:
Spider Vein Treatment
Spider veins are small network of veins that occur near the surface of the skin and often appear
on the legs or face. They appear as reddish, purplish, or blue veins and often look like tree
branches or spider legs.. Spider veins can become quite unsightly. They may enlarge over time.
It is estimated that over 50% of adult females will develop spider veins.
Cause of Spider Veins
The most common cause of spider veins is genetic predisposition. They occur more frequently in
women (for instance, in and around a pregnancy). They also may be the result of injury. Spider
veins on the face may be related to sun damage.

Spider Vein Treatment
At Saugerties Wellness Center we treat small spider veins by a procedure called ‘Sclerotherapy’.
Sclerotherapy involves the injection (directly into the spider vein) of a solution that will cause
the vein to disintegrate and disappear. The treatment quick and relatively painless.
